Weed Control and Turfing in Wokingham | A Closer Look at Our Turfing Process
EcoLawns is the premier choice for lawn repair, weed control, moss control, lawn patch repair, identifying moss causes and resolving lawn diseases. Our lawn experts also specialise in turfing installations. We cater to domestic and commercial clients in Wokingham and the surrounding areas.
Here, our lawn care company looks at the process of our start-to-finish new turf installations.
Having lived in Wokingham for many years, we feel we know the area well, and the town has always been at the heart of our business. Our first-ever customer was in Wokingham (and is still a customer today!), and you have no doubt seen one of our vans stuck in a local traffic jam!
The town is at the intersection of both the “Bagshot Sand” and “London Clay” features, so there are big variations in soil conditions. Our free lawn analysis will identify the local conditions and work out exactly what your lawn needs.
Professional Turfing Projects | Our Process
Free Lawn Survey
Before we start work, our team will conduct a free lawn survey, to see if anything can be saved. Whether it be a renovation or a lawn care programme, we will provide a tailored solution to restore your Wokingham lawn.
We can also advise on whether lawn repair is suitable and if your lawn requires moss control or weed control.
Existing Lawn Removal
If we decide turfing is the right option, we must remove the existing lawn. In some cases, this will be treated with a glyphosate product to kill the grass first; this will not be necessary for other jobs. Once the grass is prepared, we remove the old lawn.
Loosening Soil
This will leave a compacted area of soil, which must be loosened and rotavated before proceeding. Once the soil is light and fluffy, our lawn care company experts will gently compress it.
Top Dressing
The next step is to lay quality top dressing. The amount required varies depending on the lawn size and if the level needs to be raised. Lawns that require turfing typically also benefit from improving the overall soil quality, so the more the better. Once the soil is laid, it can be levelled and lightly compressed again.
Laying Turf
Finally, the actual turfing stage. Some people may just throw the turf down and consider it “job done”, but it needs to be carefully laid to ensure successful growth. Our fully trained staff always take extra time to make sure the turf is laid perfectly by “cutting in” each roll to leave a smooth finish.
Clearing and Advice
Once we’ve cleared up and ensured that as little mess as possible is left, we provide extensive instructions on maintaining your new turf. This includes instructions on mowing and watering in the short and longer term.
